Pilates is an intelligent and organized system of working the entire musculature. In other words, it works the whole body at once. Each movement is initiated by deep internal muscles called, ‘stabilizers’. When the stabilizers are strengthened, the result is maximum stability and increased range of motion of the joints. A systematic progression of exercises are performed to produce a balance of strength, flexibility, balance and control while correcting muscular imbalances that directly affect posture. When practicing the Pilates method, a person develops acute body awareness that allows for life’s daily activities to be done with greater ease.
